About the Project

Our community garden “gives away” 100% of the produce that we grow and harvest. We ask participants who adopt space, to give us back 10% of their crops. We have donated over 75,000 pounds of fresh produce to nearly 20 different locations in the Knoxville and Lenoir City area since 2014, when we started the community garden. We have impacted over 1,000 folks locally. We believe this has had a direct impact on reducing food cost to local folks in need. This also gives them fresh produce rather than canned goods, at no cost to them. We have a Flower Ministry that gave away over 6500 stems last year to shut-ins, as well as our CADES (Concord Adult Day Enrichment Services) program both working with Knox County Conservationists on several other projects at this time. We are also a certified “Monarch Butterfly Way Station” and a certified “Wildlife Habitat”.

This KCMG project won a State (TEMG) Search For Excellence Award in 2015. It then won a second-place award in 2021 at the International Master Gardener Conference.
