About the Project
The HVES Learning Garden provides hands-on educational experiences for approximately 900 students and their families. In addition to gardening, we offer students and teachers the opportunity to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences in the garden. Parents can volunteer with their child’s class and learn right alongside them.
Our program thrives thanks to dedicated Master Gardener volunteers. During the school year, volunteers tend to our raised garden beds and fruit trees while working alongside students and parents as they explore the garden. In the summer, volunteers help maintain and prepare the garden for the next school year. We also offer weekend volunteer opportunities throughout the year for larger garden maintenance projects.
