Backyard Composting Workshop with Kat McDearis

The Knoxville Compost Project is pleased to present the first Backyard Composting Workshop of 2026! Join Kat McDearis, the owner of Green Heron Compost Services, as she discusses the importance of composting, how to properly turn food scraps into quality compost, & any trouble-shooting. Due to this being a City-funded program, only residents within Knoxville’s city limits may attend. Attendees will receive one free backyard composter & one countertop food scrap collection bin per household.
This event is limited to 30 people. You are welcome to bring 1 additional member of your household, but please specify in your reservation if you are doing so. Tickets for this event are free, but a $5 parking fee will apply to non-members.
